Suction & Discharge PSIG Inspection

Any homeowner who has an air conditioning unit should have it checked yearly. This is in part to maintain the system and elongate its life, but it also to ensure that the system is running properly, and does not pose a safety hazard or threat.

The technicians at Complete Mechanical, Inc. are highly trained in inspecting each time of air conditioning system, and as part of their yearly inspection, check the compressor.
One thing they check in particular on an air conditioning compressor is the discharge to suction ratio, written out formally such as Discharge Pressure Absolute ÷ Suction Pressure Absolute. This is also known as calculating the PSIG.

If the ratio does not fall within a certain range, the air conditioning system is most likely not cooling efficiently. The technicians will have to troubleshoot further, resulting in a compressor repair or a compressor replacement. All air conditioning units must have the proper volumetric efficiency to operate well.
