Energy Efficiency Rebates

Energy-efficient appliances and products provide many benefits such as lower energy bills, increased indoor comfort, and reduced air pollution. In addition to federal tax incentives, some consumers will also be eligible for utility or state rebates, as well as state tax incentives for energy-efficient homes, appliances and equipment. Each state’s energy office web site may have more information on specific state tax information. Below are some Federal and State sites that summarize many of the tax credits available to consumers:
Department of Energy – Tax Breaks
Puget Sound Energy Efficiency Rebates
Cash For Appliances – Washington
Washington Incentives/Policies for Renewables & Efficiency

Radiant Heating | Geothermal Heating | Infrared Heating

The major difference between gas-fired infrared heating systems and forced air systems is the method used to create a comfortable heating environment. In a forced air system, the hot air rises to the ceiling and stratifies, gradually working its way down to the thermostat level. The floor slab usually never becomes warm enough to be comfortable. Complete Mechanical infrared units heat the floor slab and machinery before heating the air. This results in a more comfortable heating environment because people working in the comfort zone are blanketed by direct radiation from above, secondary radiation from below, and warm air rising from the floor.

IAQ | Indoor Air Quality

MERV, or Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, is a number from 1 to 16 that is relative to an air filter’s efficiency. The higher the MERV, the more efficient the air filter is at removing particles. At the lower end of the efficiency spectrum a fiberglass panel filter may have a MERV of 4 or 5. At the higher end, a MERV 14 filter is typically the filter of choice for critical areas of a hospital (to prevent transfer of bacteria and infectious diseases). Higher MERV filters are also capable of removing higher quantities of extremely small contaminant (particles as small as 1/300 the diameter of a human hair). A higher MERV creates more resistance to airflow because the filter media becomes denser as efficiency increases. For the cleanest air, a user should select the highest MERV filter that their unit is capable of forcing air through based on the limit of the unit’s fan power.

Complete Mechanical recommends a variable speed furnace to maintain consistent airflow across the air filter. Most filters become more efficient as the filter is used in the system. Care should be taken when considering filters that incorporate an electrostatic charge. Although offering a reasonable MERV value these filters will actually drop in efficiency as the filter loads with contaminant. A number of electrostatic filters are presently being offered for residential as well as the commercial/industrial applications. Refer to the filter packaging or literature to determine if the filter you are purchasing relies on an electrostatic charge to boost its MERV. If it does, request that the manufacturer provide you with the “discharged MERV” for the filter to determine its actual in-use performance.

Oil Furnace Repair and Oil Furnace Replacement

An oil furnace is a complex assembly. The maintenance and repair work for this type of furnace is limited to simple parts: the filters, the blower, the motor belts, the switches, and the thermostat. Electrodes, an oil nozzle, air tubes, a transformer, a pump, and other components require special tools and testing equipment and are best left to a professional for service. There’s not much you can do to fix an oil furnace, but routine maintenance can forestall many problems. We have years of experience with oil furnace repair, oil furnace replacement and converting oil furnace heating to gas. Whether you need a quick repair or maintenance of your oil furnace or you need to convert your oil furnace to gas heating, we can get the job done quickly and cost effectively. HVAC Dehumidification

Dehumidification is considered as a key feature of HVAC systems for thermal comfort. A dehumidifier is typically a household pf commercial appliance that reduces the level of humidity in the air, usually for health reasons. Humid air can cause mold and mildew to grow inside homes, which has various health risks. Very high humidity levels are also unpleasant for human beings, can cause condensation and can make it hard to dry laundry or sleep. Higher humidity is also preferred by most insects, including clothes moths, fleas and cockroaches. Relative humidity in dwellings is preferably 30 to 50%. Dehumidifiers are also used in commercial pool and spa areas, in addition to industrial climatic chambers for keeping desired humidity levels.
